Thank you for stopping by, I am sure you have seen some wonderful blog post prior to your arrival, if you have come via the Hope Blog Hop which starts at the Club Scrap Creates Blog.
Here is my project, which was inspiried by many snippets of ideas from other crafty friends.
Fourteen years ago or so I asked the builder when the model home was closing if I could have the front of the kitchen cabinet display which matched mine, gutsy I know, but they let me have it and I knew it would be an awesome project some day.
Using the Hopes stencil, Black Gesso and Wet and Wipe Chalkboard Markers, I was able to create this wonderful chalkboard which matches my kitchen cabinets perfectly.
Here is a close up of the chalkboard panel made from chipboard, (4 by 13 inches) covered in black gesso. The Hopes stencil was used to color in the flowers, leaves and stems and then I free handed the white outline.
I was able to obtain the antique crstal doorknob from etsy, applied cork to a thin wood panel I cut to enclose the back.
Here is the inside:
The inside items are cards I created from the Hopes kit as well. The ribbon tied on the door knob was also supplied in the kit.
This is how the project looks from my kitchen
Thanks to Jenny Lind for the chalboard idea as well as the hint of where to obtain a real crystal doorknob. Thanks to Malana Corn for the information on using Black Gesso for the chalkboard. Thanks to Mark for drilling the hole for the door knob to be added, while I watched over his shoulder, terririfed as my part had been completed already. Also for hanging the project up on the wall and the many adjustments required to get it just right.
I really apprecaite you stopping by, please continue on to the next stop on the Hopes Blog Hop at Anne Marie Healey's Artfully Balanced Blog.
Enjoy,
Cathy

All those ideas came together beautifully! So cute hanging on the wall. Love that it opens to more goodness inside! You must have a sweet sweet husband to get him to play along and help with the doorknob and hanging it! Thanks!

Fun Idea. Where did you have this stashed all these years? Doesn't it feel good when the perfect project comes along for something you have held onto. Usually I keep "it" for years and throw "it" away just before I find the project that would have been perfect.

I love that you can write on the outside and still have things tacked up inside all neat and tidy. Very imaginative.
