Welcome to my blog and the Club Scrap Cape Code Blog Hop, I hope you came my way from Kay's Keepsakes or the starting point at Club Scrap Creates.
This month I am sharing a gift for my daughter Kimberly, who recently got engaged to Josh Cooper. I wanted to create something wonderful for them to remember the special occasion by. I had purchased a 13 1/2 square canvas frame which was waiting to become their gift. I used 12 by 12 papers from the May Club Scrap kit, Cape Cod. My daughter's favorite color is red, so it was perfect. Looking at the picture above you will quickly think, that can't be 12 by 12 paper on such a larger frame, but it is! I cut the strips of paper lengthwise and then in the middle horizontally. The red stripped ribbon covers the extra space, some color blocking and it all worked out perfectly.
Everything in this project was included in the Cape Cod Kit: I did not need to grab anything from my stash at all. My daughter likes simple, and this fit the bill. It is already up on her wall and makes me smile everytime we enter her home and see it.
Thanks for stopping by and please continue on to Anne Marie's Artfully balanced blog for more creations!
Enjoy,
Cathy
Congratulations on your daughter's engagement, and thanks for sharing that optical illusion tip. I've done that myself when I'm trying to stretch a scrap to the right size, too! If my photo mat isn't big enough, sometimes I'll piece together two scraps. No one sees the line when they're joined and taped down.

Cathy, thanks for sharing your framed art. Perfect example that it doesn't take a lot of "stuff" to make a beautiful way to display a photo…after all, it is the kiss between two people who love each other that is the center of attention. I just love this!
Cheers!

Oh what a wonderful project for a wonderful occasion. Love how you kept it clean like your daughter likes, I need to remember that less is more many times. It keeps the focus on that great sweet portrait.

This is so nice Cathy! It's such a nice thing for your daughter to have for a keepsake. I like how you cleverly stretched out your 12 x 12 paper for this.

Congrats on the engagement, Cathy! And what a beautiful page. It could also be a book cover...the beginning of their life together.
