StencilGirl December stencils

Such fun stencils! First I separated the large stencil

The face and numbers really kept bringing up the five senses to me, this is where I went with it

I used her face as a mask and marked an outline which I cut into the Club Scrap paper using an exacto knife. I created tags for the 5 senses, decorated them with the stencils and washi tape. The words were added by using a label maker.

I then used number 1 through 5 covered with White Sand texture paste, which dried clear.

 

Using a Ranger distressed crayon with water, I darkened the texture paste, applied gesso over the numbers to have them pop

I added a bit of a page from an encyclopedia on Senses to complete this piece.

The next piece, named Good Luck

I applied Distress Oxide Inks quite a bit on Club Scrap 12 x 12 paper from the Literature kit. I used the face as a mask with brown ink over a gesso'd area on the left bottom area of the paper, then added water to the mask and turned it over for the left top darker image. The dragonfly was a tissue paper image applied with gel medium prior to the face mask. Many borders were then added all over and with more Distress Oxide inks applied and water splashed. On the white face, I did not intend for an eye, nose, chin or lip shading to occur, it was just good luck.

These stencils were a blast to work with and I am sure will appear in many more future art pieces!

StencilGirl November Club Stencils

The piece below was created by using sections of all 3 sizes of stencils from November's StencilGirl  Nathalie Kalbach's Fragmented stencils.

Adhering the Navigation paper from Club Scrap to foam core created a 3 D space for the compass and burlap paper was added as a background.

Using Colorburts powder pigments on the stencils, they were applied with a watercolor brush on watercolor paper. The layers of colors were achieved using gel medium.  The Navigation paper was torn to expose the stenciled watercolor paper.

The Mica pieces were sprayed with Ranger Mica Distress Ink over the stencil and then outlines with a black fine point sharpie pen.

Shades of Winter ATC

 

Created using papers and embellishments from Club Scraps December Shades of Winter collection. Sliver Skate is from my stash and is a Tim Holtz item. "Snow" was added to the skate blade. None of these were made for an ATC swap for SALSA a local stamping group in Tucson.

Twist and Turn Card

I used papers and embellishments from the Club Scrap Literature collection. 

I made this twist and turn card for a friend from work as congratulations for their miracle little girl.  

The idea came from Hetty's blog posting on October 2nd http://craftchaos.blogspot.com/2016/10/shanah-tovah-happy-new-year-5777.html and I watched the video she references as I made it.

When you open the card it twists and turn and expands

The top section of the inside says Congratulations and the bottom says Enjoy it thoroughly.

If I was to ever give advice to new parents that last line would be it.

What appears as chaos.....

This piece of art began with this pretty 8 1/2 by 11 paper from the Club Scrap Garden Shed collection

I changed the orientation and knew I wanted to use a dragon stencil from Stencil Girl. I used pan pastels and dye based inks with the stencil. Then for reasons I could not understand I wanted to add bees. I do not like bees, having been attached by them years ago. I placed them all around in different orientations, some stamped, others fuzzy cut from images included in the Garden Shed collection. It felt right, but I had no idea why. I left it and the next morning, I had a saying come to me as I was waking up- What appears as chaos to me, may be someone else's organized survival.

The bees made total sense to me now!This statement really describes my life and reminds me to have compassion for other's struggles. 

Another fun element came to me on a walk with Mark and Sasha, we went to an area we have not been in quite a while and on the ground there were "claws", which  were perfect for the dragons feet, so the piece really came together.

I framed it an it is actually is hanging up in our living room, it is a pretty special piece of art for me.

Found Hope

This 12 by 12 Found Hope piece was created using papers, stencil and elements from the Club Scrap August Sunflower collection. I used white Gesso and acrylic paints to cover much of the paper, but have some sunflowers still showing through. The Sunflower stencil was used to create the sunflowers with watercolor crayons and Distress Stickles inside the word Hope. 

Below is a close up picture of a button and flower also included in the Sunflower collection, which added a really sweet touch.

Album for my Daughter

This is not your typical Wedding Album, it is for my daughter 

The flash from my camera was not kind to Josh's name, but the album says Josh n Kim on the cover. The album was handmade using A Study In Red  collection from Club Scrap. It is based on the tutorial here by Tricia Morris, except it is a different size and my envelope punch board was broken. Inside every page (envelope) is a tag, which provides a lot of real estate for memories.

Their last name is displayed on the spine:

Inside cover is a sweet picture of Josh and Kim

First page is her invitation, including her Save the Date, which had a magnet on the back.

 Next up is the tag inside, it is actually a another vintage envelope, which has her movie ticket containing the reception information, I forgot to take a picture of that before I gave it to her last night.Here are pictures of the photos on the outside

The inside tag is about her wedding dress, it was my mother's dress, from 1958. I wore it at my 1st wedding, to her father and then it was preserved. She had it altered and made it her own for her wedding. There are pieces of the lace and satin on the tag along with the photos.

Altered Gum Ball Machine

“Altered Gum Ball Machine” Directions/Supplies from Jessica Tucker

On July 23rd Jessica Tucker did a workshop at CraftFusion, I was unavailable to attend and requested the workshop kit be mailed. The directions and supplies were great.This was completed on 7/30.

Here are some close ups

The mermaid was fuzzy cut from Graphic 45 paper, glitter, sand and adornments added, a gold piece was rusted per directions.

The bright yellow plastic gumball machine was "Distressed" rusted per directions.

The base was attached using E-6000, per directions and so many items were included in the kit to decorate with, the octopus was fuzzy cut from Graphic 45 paper included.

I was sorry to miss the workshop, but this was great fun to create at home.

Creative License

I have had a wooden key holder just waiting for the right idea. Using Papers and doodads from Club Scrap's May Creative License collections and items from my stash, as well as my walk earlier in the morning I created this assemblage.

Celebrate creations!

This month I created the following with the Club Scrap January Celebration collection

 

All papers,inks, stamps and elements are from Club Scrap Including the stencil which was used for her eye. The large girl stencil is from Stencil Girl. The paper beads were created using the Silver and Black 12 by 12 paper cut into strips, beads used are from past Club Scrap kits, fiber from Celebration.
