Sewing themed Cigar Box

Friday I took a class up in Chandler at Craft Fusion, a very lovely store. We altered cigar boxes with a sewing theme.

Collage wall hanging

I created this collage this past weekend using some of my favorite papers, from Club Scrap, Graphic 45 etc, cause I am love with the color blue.

It is very dimensional, which is hard to see in the photos. I had been going in a very linear way, straight lines across and very organized and then I just got crazy and stayed that way.

I have a few more close up pictures to show the detail that went into this piece, and you might be able to pick out some of the papers and techniques in them.

This photo is a close up of the upper right hand corner. I used alcohol inks to add colors to a white metal frame and the butterflies. The ribbon was stamped and distresses using distress stains. Yes, it is a real peacock feather too.

Using Crystal Effects I added a bit of shine. I flattened out a bottle cap and made it the center of a die cut flower, door knob, buttons, fibers, a glass bottle and a monicle are some of the items seen in this bottom right hand corner close up picture.

In this last photo of the bottom half of the collage, which was built upon, but extended past a 12 by 12 canvas. I created a little message out of various elements, 2 B Love d. There are a lot of distressed items and it was a blast to make. I had this in my head all week and hated waiting to the weekend, but creating it was great fun and worth the wait to me. It is up on the long wall in our home. I have been waiting to exchange out some of the art collages and this was the first one. It is interesting to see how I change as an artist.

Flip Flop Photo Frame

I enjoyed making this Club Scrap Flip Flop Photo Project. I used pictures from our recent trip to Kauai. It was very easy to assemble and great fun to embellsih.

I used Tim Holtz mini flash cards, cut in half for the letters in Hawaii. This way I only used 4 cards and clued the extra halves of the H and W together for the date, which is under the umbrella and a bit tough to see. I added tissue tape on top of using Red Brick Distress stan on the bottom of the Flip Flop. I added a shell and a grunge board die cut bird covered in Distress Stains. The bird was from a class I took from Jack and Cat Curio at Craft Fusion on Saturday.

All other materials, like papers, flip flop, pieces of frame, fibers, clip, umbrella, etc came in the kit from Club Scrap.

He Loves Me

I love this picture our nephew took of us in Germany. It is one of those moments of us gazing with love at eachother and captured forever. Pictures don't get much better than that. I treasure the moment and the memory of the visit.

Steampunk Orient Express Box

Saturday (9/24/11) was a wonderful creative day. We had some friends over and played. I started this project, using Club Scrap's Orient Express Kit and lots of items from my stash.

Wizard of OZ meets Club Scrap book project

I really love the Graphic 45 line, and you know how I create using all kinds of Club Scrap projects, so here is a Club Scrap book with Graphic 45's Wizard of OZ collection. Please pardon my lack of professional pictures, in this case, please ignore the floor, chair, etc.

Cover:

I am not sure you can see the sparkle of red, the little blue buttons or notice the Club Scrap blue paper was swapped out for the CS bight yellow and the Hampton Stamps, bricks. The stars are just the book holder,  not part  of the book.

Next is the center of the left hand side of the book, which has a pull out area as well. Sorry I am not pointing all all the little extras....this project looks way better in person.

When we close that up we come to the Flying Monkeys and the Lion pages, the inside center right of the book. You cannot see in a still shot, but those monkeys move about! They are attached by fishing line, with a penny on the back of them and and a bit of an anchor, so they do not get so tangled up.

The Lion page opens to the Wicked Witch section!

Once again the center folds out , There is no place like Home and the music to Over the Rainbow, note the  blue birds.

Record Album Scrapbook

I was cleaning out the garage a couple of weeks ago and found some of my old record  albums and a 45 record from my mom. The memories flowed. I was right back in the attic in my childhood home with my mom putting the record on an old record player.  The record was Danny Boy, and she was thinking of my brother Danny. 

I had to scrap these memories. The big record album also contains memories for me as well. I even left some of the words from the albums song showing on a page- Listen by the Westin Priory Monks (from Vermont).

I loved creating this 12 by 12 , small album with memories of my brother, just a few pages of Dream In Color and Mood on Wings (Crafter ALSB) Club Scrap paper . The cover also has a waterfall fold with coasters.
